The route is known by two names, Levada dos Cardais or Levada Nova.

Starting at Terra do Galo / Barros, it crosses the Vale de São Vicente between the sites of the Lameiros and Cardais, where it has its term.

With the main purpose of supplying the agricultural lands of this zone, it was built allowing the farmers a varied production (fruits and vegetables) throughout the year.

During the journey, you will be amazed by the magnificent panoramic views from the São Vicente Valley, the islet of Porto Moniz, Eira da Achada (Ribeira da Janela) and Seixal.

It should be noted that in a part of the route there is the possibility of connection with the Caves of São Vicente or the Cal Route, both places of great geological interest.
